Box Score NORMAL, Ala. (Jan. 9) – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Men's Basketball team dropped a 85-70 decision to Alabama A&M, here Saturday night at Elmore Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs grabbed an early 11 -3 lead on back-to-back three pointer by Rakiya Battle. AAMU then extended their lead to 22-8 on a dunk by Ladarius Tabb with 10:53 left in the half.
UAPB cut AAMU's lead to 28-24 with a 16-6 run on a Thaddeus Handley layup with 4:04 remaining in the first half.
The Golden Lions went into the break trailing the Bulldogs, 39-33 with UAPB finishing the first half shooting 56.6 percent (13-of-23) and AAMU shooting 46.9 percent (15-of-32).
In the second half, UAPB cut AAMU's lead to 56-49 on an
Austin Cox dunk with 12:17 remaining in the contest. But that would be the closes that the Golden Lions would get as AAMU outscored UAPB 46-37 in the second half.
UAPB finished the contest shooting 51 percent (26-of-51), while AAMU shot 45 percent (27-of-60).
AAMU (5-7, 1-2 SWAC) was led by Tabb with 31 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Nicholas West with 14 and Battle with 12.
UAPB (2-15, 0-2 SWAC) was paced by
Ghiavonni Robinson with 24 points and
Charles Jackson with 13. Robinson scored 18 of his 24 points in the first half as he went four-for-seven from behind the three point arc.
