UAPB Falls to Hawaii, 75-47, in Honolulu
Box Score HONOLULU, Hawaii Ghiavonni Robinson and JoVaughn Love combined to score 25 points for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff basketball team, but a strong second half performance lifted Hawaii to a 75-47 victory in a late-night battle at the Stan Sheriff Center.

With a four-hour time difference in Hawaii, opening tip came at 11:00 p.m. central time, the Golden Lions (2-6) started out sluggish against the sharp-shooting Rainbow Warriors (5-1).

Hawaii opened the game with a 4-0 run, but UAPB nailed a three-pointer by Robinson to cut the lead to one (4-3) to keep things close. Hawaii pushed its lead, before the Golden Lions quieted the Rainbow Warrior crowd with a made basket from Deshon Bayless to give UAPB their first lead of the game 14-12 with 11:08 in the first half.  Both teams traded baskets, but the gap continued to widen as Hawaii would go on a 24-11 run to take a 36-25 -point lead into the break, but UAPB gave Hawaii trouble in the first have on the offensive board (8-5) to keep the game in hand.

In the first half, UAPB shot 31.4% from the field, but managed just 20.0% from behind the arc and in stark contrast; the Rainbow Warriors shot a blistering 51.7% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc.

In the opening of the second half Freshman Marcus Wallace snapped the rally with a layup to cut the lead to nine (36-27), off a steal by Thaddeus Handley.  UAPB continue to chip away getting the lead down to 10 after being down by as many as 16 earlier in the game, before Hawaii would take control of the game off an ice cold night for the Golden Lions.

The Golden Lions didn't shoot the ball as well as they are capable in the last game victory over Southeastern Louisiana, shooting 20-for-66 for the night from the field goal, 5-for-28 from the three point range and attempting on four free-throws, compared to Hawaii going to the charity stripes 33 times and making 22.  Driving the ball in the lane and not getting to the free throw line was a big difference in the game for UAPB.

Junior Ghiavonni Robinson led UAPB with 14 points, three rebounds, two assist and three steals, followed by senior JoVaughn Love with 11 points, six rebounds, two assist and one steal.  Freshman Marcus Wallace contributed seven points, two assist and one steal and junior Dashon Bayless seven points and two steals for the Golden Lions.

UAPB will be back in action Saturday December 5, 2015, when the team will travel to Blacksburg, VA. to take on Virginia Tech at 3:00 p.m.
