Athens. OH.- Junior Ghiavonni Robinson scores a team high with 21 points, three rebounds and one steal, as the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball team fell in a hard fought setback, 65-58 to Ohio University (8-3) on Monday night at the Convocation Center.
Ohio U. jumped out to a 11-2 lead in the first three minutes of the game, as UAPB stormed back cutting the lead to three, 11-8 with a three pointer by Robinson in the 12:49 marked. Both teams would trade baskets before the Bobcats would increase their lead to 10, with a layup by Mike Master with 4:42 left in the first half, but the Golden Lions refuse to back down and cut the lead to five 24-19 with a long range three by Jaquan Lynch to head into the locker room at intermission.
After trailing by as many as 11 points in the second half, UAPB close the gap back to five 49-44 after a layup by Devin Berry in the first six min of the second half.
The Golden Lions was rocking in anticipation of a comeback finish, but UAPB could not rally the comeback despite shooting 60 percent from the field and 6-of-7 from behind the arch and developing several good looks from the field in the second half, compared to the first half.
UAPB also established a 28-4 advantage in bench points against Ohio U., but was outscored 34-10 in the paint.
Trent Whiting also chipped in eight points for UAPB, followed by Charles Jackson and Deshon Bayless with six points a piece.
Antonio Campbell led the Bobcats with 26 points and 12 rebounds, followed by Treg Setty with 13 points.
The Golden Lions will be back on the hardwood Tuesday Dec. 29 at 8:00 p.m.
