SANTA CLARA RALLIES PAST UAPB FOR 69-57 WIN

Box Score SANTA CLARA, Calif. (Dec. 15) - Santa Clara outscored the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Men's Basketball team 43-26 in the second half to rally past the Golden Lions, 69-57, here Tuesday night at the Leavey Center.
 
SCU jumped out to a 4-0 lead on back-to-back field goals by Matt Hubbard and Nate Kratch in the first ninety seconds of the half.
 
UAPB regained the lead with an 11-3 run to take an 11-7 lead on Ghiavonni Robinson three pointer with 12:31 remaining to play in the first.  The Golden Lions then extended their lead to 20-11 with a 9-4 run on a JoVaughn Love three pointer with 8:33 remaining the first.
 
In the final eight minutes the Broncos outscored the Golden Lions, 15-11 as UAPB went into the break with a 31-26 lead at the half.
 
The Golden Lions shot 40.0 percent from the field and went nine-for-19 from behind the three point line for a 47.4 shooting percent.
 
SCU finished the first half shooting, 45.0 percent and went one-for-five from behind the three point arc.
 
In first five minutes of the second half, UAPB outscored SCU 12-10 to take a 43-36 lead on a pair of Marcus Wallace free throws with a 15:05 remaining in the second.
 
A Jared Brownridge three pointer capped a 10-4 run by the Broncos giving SCU a 46-45 lead with 10:33 remaining in the contest.
 
SCU then extended their lead to 64-53 on a KJ Feagin three pointer with 3:45 left in the contest as the Broncos held on for the 69-57 victory.
 
UAPB (2-9) had two Golden Lions to score in double-figures with Love scoring a team high 20 points and Charles Jackson pumping 14.  Robinson led the team in assists and rebounds with seven in each category.
 
SCU (4-7) had three Broncos to score in double-figures with both Kratch and Brownridge finishing with 20 points each, while Feagin added 17.  Feagin led the team in assists with six.
