Box Score ALCORN STATE, Miss. (Jan. 19) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff snapped their eight-game losing streak with a 54-49 win over Alcorn State, here Monday night at the Davey L. Whitney Center.
UAPB scored the first points of the contest as
Marcel Mosley connected on a three pointer at the 19:45 mark of the first half, giving the Golden Lions a 3-0 lead.
Alcorn State regained the lead on four made free throws one by Tyrel Hunt and three by LeAntwan Luckett giving the Braves a 4-3 lead with 17:54 to go in the game.
The Braves pushed their lead to 10-6 on a Luckett layup with 13:43 left in the first.
UAPB tied the contest at 10-10 on back-to-back layups by
Trent Whiting with 11:11 left in the first. Then the Golden Lions extended their lead to 16-11 with a 6-0 run with 8:46 left in the half.
Alcorn State ended the first half with a 14-7 run to take a 25-23 lead into the break.
UAPB finished the first half shooting 32.3 percent (10-of-31), while ASU shot 31.8 percent (7-of-22).
In the second half, UAPB took a 30-29 lead with a 7-4 run, capped off by a
DeAndre McIntyre three pointer with 15:56 left in the second half.
Luckett gave the Braves a 35-33 lead with 10:09 left in the contest.
Mosley tied the contest at 35-35 for UAPB at the 9:30 mark and then took a 37-35 lead on a McIntyre layup with 8:13 left.
Larry Johnson extended the Golden Lions' lead to 40-37 with a made three pointer at the 7:19 mark.
ASU tied the contest at 42-42on a pair of Michael Davis free throws with 5:19 left and then took a 44-43 lead on a Devonte Hampton jumper at the 4:36 mark.
UAPB regained the lead on a Robinson jumper at the 4:08 mark to give the Golden Lions a 45-44 lead and then extended their lead to 51-46 on a pair of
Tevin Hammond made free throws with 44 seconds left in the contest.
A Luckett three pointer with 33 seconds left cut UAPB's lead to 51-49, but that would be the closes that the Braves would get as UAPB went a perfect three-for- three from the charity stripe for the 54-49 win.
UAPB (4-15, 1-4 SWAC) had a pair of Golden Lions to score in double figures with Mosley scoring a team high 15 points, followed by McIntyre with 13.
Devin Berry led UAPB on the boards with nine.
ASU (4-14, 3-3 SWAC) was paced by Luckett with a game high 25 points followed by Marquis Vance with 10 points and 11 rebounds to finish the contest with a double-double.
