ALABAMA A&M EDGES UAPB, 51-48

Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Jan. 12)  - Justin Colvin nailed a three pointer with 1.5 second left in regulation to lift Alabama A&M past the University of Arkansas Men's Basketball team, 51-48 here Monday night at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.

In the final four minutes of the second half, AAMU took a 44-37 lead with a Colvin three pointer with 4:31 left in the contest.

UAPB tied the contest at 48-48 with a three point play by Thaddeus Handley with nine seconds left in regulation, capping a 9-4 run by the Golden Lions.

In the first half, UAPB jumped out to a 5-0 lead on a Marcel Mosley three pointer and a Handley tip-in with 16:33 to go in the first.

AAMU closed the gap with a 10-6 run to cut UAPB's lead to 11-10, capped off by a Marcus Meriweather jumper with 8:09 left in the half.

The Golden Lions finished the first half shooting 34.6 percent (9-of-26), while the Bulldogs shot 23.1 percent (6-of-26) as UAPB went into the break leading AAMU, 20-19.

 UAPB opened up the second half with an 8-4 run to take a 28-23 lead on a Tevin Hammond layup with 17:33 left in the half.

AAMU regained the lead with a 13-8 run to take a 36-35 lead with 7:21 left in the game as they extended their lead to 44-37.

UAPB finished the contest shooting 45.8 percent (22-of-48), while AAMU shot 33.3 percent (17-of-51).

AAMU (4-10, 3-1 SWAC) had three Bulldogs to score in double-figures with both Nicolas West and Just Colvin finishing with 14 points apiece for the Bulldogs, while Ladarius Tabb chipped in 10.  West led the Bulldogs on the board with 14, while Rakiya Battle dished out a game high eight assists.

UAPB (3-14, 0-3 SWAC) was paced by both Marcel Mosley and JoVaughn Love as they both scored 11 points each for the Golden Lions.  In addition, Love led the Golden Lions on the board with 10.
The Golden Lions will return to action on Saturday, January 17 as they will travel to Baton Rouge, La., to take Southern University at the F.G. Clark Activity Center.
