Parker Wentz scored 16 points and
LaDarrien Williams added 15 off the bench to give Abilene Christian a 69-61 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Tuesday in the Upper Division championship of the Las Vegas Classic.
Wentz scored 14 points in the first half on 4-of-5 shooting from 3-point range.
Harrison Hawkins added 12 points for Abilene Christian (6-6) and freshman
K.J. Maura had 11 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Tevin Hammond, who was named all-tournament team scored 19 of his 20 points in the second half to led Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3-10).
Abilene Christian led 37-25 at halftime, but Hammond gave Arkansas-Pine Bluff a 52-51 lead with 6:47 left. Then the Wildcats went cold, connecting on just two field goals the rest of the way.
Hawkins' 3-pointer and Williams' three-point play gave Abilene Christian a 63-55 lead with 1:11 to play. Hawkins and Maura made 6 of 6 free throws in the final minute.
Golden Lions will take on Stanford Dec. 29 at 8:00 PM Pacific Time, before their home opener against Mississippi Valley Jan. 3 at 7:30 PM.
