Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dec. 13) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Basketball team dropped their sixth straight as the Air Force Academy handed the Golden Lions, an 80-47 defeat here Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena.
UAPB scored the first points of the contest as
Tevin Hammond connected on a three pointer at the 19:45 mark, giving the Golden Lions a 3-0 lead.
USAF then scored the next eight points in the contest to take an 8-3 lead, capped off by a Marek Olesinski three pointer with 16:31 left in the first.
The Golden Lions cut the Falcons lead to 11-9 on a
Trent Whiting layup with 14:20 to go in the half.
UAPB would then go the next six minutes without scoring as USAF ended the first half with a 26-10 run to take a 37-19 lead into the break.
The Golden Lions finished the first half shooting 36.8 percent (7-of-19), whereas USAF shot 52.0 percent (13-of-35).
In the second half, the Falcons outscored the Golden Lions, 43-28 as UAPB finished the contest shooting 42.5 percent (17-of-40), while USAF shot 60.5 percent (26-of-43).
UAPB (1-8) had a pair of Golden Lions to score in double-figures with
JoVaughn Love scoring a team high 17 points, followed by
Marcel Mosley with 10. Hammond led the team in assists and steals as he finished the contest with six assists and three steals.
USAF (6-3) was led by Max Yon with a game high 24 points, while Olesinski added 12. Matt Mooney led team in assists with six.
Up next for the Golden Lions will be the Las Vegas Classic with the first two games of the classic being played at their opponent's home venue. UAPB will take on the University of Houston on Wednesday, December 17 in Houston, Texas and then will take on Texas Tech on Friday, December 19 in Lubbock, Texas. Then will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to take on Southern Utah on Sunday, December 21 and will face Abilene Christian or South Carolina State on Monday, December 22 at Orleans Arena.
