Men's Basketball: Hammond Scores 22 But, Golden Lions Falls Short To Creighton 88-51

Box Score Omaha, NE- Tevin Hammond had a game high and career high 22 points, but UAPB dropped an 88-51 decision to Creighton Blue Jays (8-2) Tuesday night at the Century Link.

The Lions (2-8) was short handed only having nine players dressed out, found themselves down 16-6 in the opening minutes of the game.

Creighton jumped on the board first with a dunk by their leading scorer Doug McDermott, follow with the Lions coming right back with a jumper by Trent Whiting to tie the game in the 18:30 mark in the first half. After tying the game the Golden Lions only shot (10-for25 40%) from the field, 1-for-7 (14.3%) behind the arch to go into intermission 44-22.

With depth playing a big part, the Lions were out number in the paint being outscored 32-18. In the second half Hammond scored 15 of his 22 points trying to cut the lead to single digits but, the Lions were cold from the rim after being on the road for five days.

Doug Mcdermott scored 25 points to lead the Blue Jays, followed by Ethan Wragge with 12 points and Will Artino with 10 points.

Tevin Hamond scored 22 points to lead the Lions in double figures, also Davon Haynes chipped in nine points.

UAPB shot 19-for -51 (37.3%) comparison to Creighton 27-for-56 (48.2%) from the field.

The Golden Lions will return to action December 22, 2013 against Iowa Hawkeyes at 1:00pm.
