Corpus Christi, TX– A poor shooting performance from the UAPB basketball team caused it to suffer an 75-49 loss to Sam Houston at The American Bank Center Arena on Friday evening in the Corpus Christi Challenge.
The Lions (2-5) shot just (30.2%) percent from the field and recorded 20 turnovers. The Kats notched their first victory against the Golden Lions and were 21-41 (51.2%) from the field, including nine 3-pointers. The Kats outshot the Lions in the first half giving them a 33-25 lead.
UAPB was led by Ghiavonni Robinson with 16 points and Tevin Hammond with eight points. Davon Haynes led the Lions with 10 rebounds. The KATS won the battle on the glass against the Lions, 33-28. At the free throw line, the Lions were 17-for-25 (68.0%) comparison to the Kats 24-37 (64.9%).
UAPB jumped on the board first with a three pointer made by Ghiavonni Robinson in the opening of the game. In the 15:00min mark the KATS took the lead for good, which was led by Jabari Peters with 16 points, follow by James Thomas with 11 and Kaheem Ransom with 10 points.
