Box Score Baton Rouge, LA- In basketball action this evening, the Golden Lions of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff had their first road contest of the SWAC season as they traveled to Baton Rouge to battle the Jaguars of Southern University.

With both ball clubs coming into today's ballgame undefeated in conference play, this match-up will definitely change the landscape of the regular season picture on the men's side of SWAC basketball this year.

Southern started the game on a four zero run and never looked back. The Golden Lions fought to stay in the ball game all night, but Southern shot the ball extremely well from the field.

The Golden Lions struggled to find their groove offensively all night; shooting just 30.4 percent from the field. Since the start of conference play the UAPB has averaged 70 points a game, but tonight the Golden Lions could only muster 50 points as Southern was able to come away with an 84-50 victory.

Terrell Kennedy led the way for the Golden Lions with 18 points; while Davon Haynes added 11 points. Daniel Broughton was able to grab seven rebounds.
Derick Beltran, of Southern University, led all scorers with 22 points and Malcolm Miller pitched in 21 points to help the Jags secure the victory.

Next on tap for the Golden Lions is a Monday night contest, January 14^th, against the Braves of Alcorn State in Lorman, MS. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
