PINE BLUFF, AR - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Women's Soccer Team has swept the conference
Offensive Player of the Year,
Defensive Player of the Year and
Freshman of the Year honors. This is the first time in conference history that one university program has swept all three categories. It also marks the first time the Lady Lions have had seven All-Conference First Team and Second Team selections.
Offensive Player of the Year was awarded to
Silvia Fuentes for the second straight year.
Defensive Player of the Year was awarded to
Erika Forbes for the second straight year.
Freshmen of the Year was awarded to Meaghan Storie.
First Team All-Conference honors went to
Silvia Fuentes and
Nicole Parks-Powell (forwards);
Rachel Harker (midfielder);
Erika Forbes (defender); and Meaghan Storie (goalkeeper).
Second Team All-Conference honors went to
Taryn Wright and
Molly Stone (midfielders) and
Kaitlin Morin (defender).
“I am very proud of these girls,” said Head Coach Roberto Mazza. “But these individual awards also reflect on the whole team. It takes the whole team for an individual to be successful.”
The Lady Lions are leaving tomorrow for the SWAC tournament in Alexandria, LA. The Lady Lions' first game of the tournament is versus Alabama State and is scheduled for a 10:30AM kick-off on Thursday.
