AUBURN, Ala.- Auburn used an 11-0 run in the final four minutes of the game to come back and defeat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 76-72 in Auburn Arena on Sunday.
UAPB shot 61.5 percent from the field and 7-of-13 percent (.538) from 3-point range in the opening period. Arkansas-Pine Bluff (0-7) came in averaging 51 points a game and led Auburn at halftime 48-44 as the Tigers shot 57.7 percent from the field and 4-of-9 from 3-point range.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff held its largest lead of the game at 72-65 with 4:04 remaining but Auburn subsequently went on an 11-0 run to end the game.
"I thought we played pretty good,” said UAPB head coach George Ivory. “We made some mistakes that you can't make against a pretty good basketball team. You got to give Auburn credit. They came out and fought hard, and I think that is what fans want to see, a good basketball game. Looking at the stats, it was a pretty good game. We just have to go back to the drawing board and get some more rebounds at the key times."
Auburn held Arkansas-Pine Bluff to 47.4 percent shooting for the second half and 2-of-7 from behind the arc. The Tigers outrebounded the Golden Lions 33-24 and had 12 turnovers.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff will now get set to go on the road to face the University of Texas El Paso on Dec. 12th at 7:00 pm.
