PINE BLUFF, AR.— The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff football team is coming home.
The Golden Lions will make their long-awaited 2026 debut at Simmons Bank Field on Saturday, Sept. 19, when they host Central State University for #PineBluffProud Community Day, with kickoff now set for 5 p.m. CT.
The game was originally scheduled for 4 p.m. CT. The kickoff has been adjusted by one hour in consideration of the forecasted temperatures and to provide a better gameday experience for student-athletes and fans.
Saturday will be more than just the first home football game of the season. UAPB Athletics will celebrate #PineBluffProud Community Day, bringing Golden Lion football and the Pine Bluff community together for an exciting evening at Simmons Bank Field.
The special day will feature Teacher Appreciation Day, Youth Sports Day, Band Day and Community Heroes Recognition, highlighting educators, young athletes, musicians and individuals who make a difference throughout Pine Bluff and the surrounding communities.
The Golden Lions return to action following a thrilling 53-51 double-overtime battle against Alcorn State in the Southern Heritage Classic at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis.
After opening the season with three consecutive games away from Pine Bluff, the Golden Lions are finally coming home.
Saturday's matchup will give Golden Lion fans their first opportunity this season to pack Simmons Bank Field and welcome UAPB football back to Pine Bluff. The home opener also provides an opportunity for the university, athletics department, students, alumni and community to come together for a full evening of Golden Lion football.
After beginning the season with games in Little Rock, Columbia and Memphis, UAPB is ready to Roar at Home.
Fans are encouraged to wear their Black and Gold, arrive early and help create an electric home-field atmosphere as the Golden Lions take the field at Simmons Bank Field for the first time this season.
