HOUSTON, TX.- The countdown has begun! With less than four hours remaining before kickoff, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) is gearing up to take on Texas Southern in a pivotal SWAC conference matchup on Saturday, October 4, at Husky Stadium on the campus of Houston Christian University.

Golden Lions Riding Momentum

The Golden Lions enter the contest on a two-game winning streak, coming off a thrilling 24–20 victory over Alcorn State at the Southern Heritage Classic in Memphis, TN.

Quarterback Christian Peters was named both BoxtoRow Player of the Week and SWAC Newcomer of the Week for his outstanding performance, throwing for 323 yards and recording one passing and one rushing touchdown against the Braves.

In the rushing game, UAPB totaled 140 yards on the ground, led by Jaylen Jennings, who carried the load with 66 rushing yards. On the receiving end, Kareem Burke led the air attack with 6 receptions for 102 yards.

Defensively, Danarius Hilliard paced the unit with 11 total tackles, while Memphis native Zach Williams came up with a key interception to help seal the win.

Texas Southern comes into the matchup following a narrow victory over Mississippi Valley State. The Tigers are led by their rushing attack, anchored by Josh Brown, who tallied 99 yards on 19 carries in last week's game against the Delta Devils.
