The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff soccer team returns to Pine Bluff this week to host its SWAC openers. The Lady Lions welcome the Alabama A&M Bulldogs to Pumphrey Stadium at 4 p.m. in the blackout game Friday, and Alabama St., Sunday at 1 p.m.

UAPB is coming off a two-week layoff against Green Bay Phoenix in their final non-conference matchup.

"We're excited to open up conference play at home," said first-year UAPB head coach Jeremy Winzer. "With the layoff, the players got a chance to get back healthy and get a mental reset for Friday's match.  Alabama A&M is a good team with speed and we are looking forward to the match."  

The Lady Lions is led by junior Alexis Sanders and freshman Lizeth Martinez who leads the team with two goals apiece. On the defensive side, freshman goalie Trinity Taylor leads the team with 43 saves for the year, followed by senior Sariah Orocu with five saves.
