Soccer Striker Sarah Wright Earns SWAC Co-Offensive Player of the Year and Alexis Sanders Earns All-Conference

BIRMINGHAM, AL. – A pair of University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff soccer players received postseason honors for their play during the regular season. Sarah Wright was selected as Co-Offensive Player of the Year and First-Team defender, while teammate Alexis Sanders earned second-team honors as a midfielder.

Wright received Co-Offensive Player of the Year recognition for the first time after leading the SWAC in goals with nine and points 20. The Stratford, Ct. native tallied 1.33 points per game, 1.60 shots per game, and three game-winning goals in 817:00 minutes played. She scored the game-tying goal and the game-winning goal to clinch the comeback win over Mississippi Valley St. on the road and scored the game-winning goal in the second half at home against Alabama St.

Sanders, a native of Norman, OK, also was selected for the first time after her impressive regular season on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. She finished the regular season with five goals and two assists, totaling 12 points. She was also a key member in setting up set pieces and providing defensive support as needed. Against Alcorn St., Sanders had three shots, two shots on goal, and one goal in a road win over the Lady Braves, and she had seven shots, three shots on goal, and one goal in a victory over Central Baptist College.
