Soccer Closes Out Regular Season Against Grambling St.

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff soccer team will face off at Grambling St. Friday at 4 p.m. looking to earn a SWAC Tournament berth at the GSU Soccer Complex in the final regular-season game of the 2019 season.

The Lady Lions are in ninth place at 3-6 in conference play. The Lady Tigers come into the match in sixth place and 5-4 in conference play.

UAPB can clinch a berth in the SWAC Tournament with a win over Grambling plus a Southern loss at Jackson St. or an Alabama State loss to Alabama A&M.

Senior Sarah Wright leads the conference with nine goals. Wright also ranks first in the conference in points total with 20, and tied for second in total game-winning goals with three.

Freshman Lizeth Martinez ranks ninth in assists with a total of three. On the defensive side, freshman Trinity Taylor leads the way for UAPB in conference rankings. Taylor ranks third in saves per game with an average of 7.06, second in total saves, with 120, and seventh in goals-against average at 2.469.
