Box Score 2 JACKSON, Miss. - Arkansas-Pine Bluff bounced back from a 7-6 loss the previous day and roared back with two key victories in conference play; a 13-10 sensational 10-inning game victory as well as a 17-1 shellacking in the rubber match against Jackson State University at the Jackson State University Softball Complex.
UAPB 13, JSU 10
The Lady Lions got off to a hot star with three runs in the first inning as well as four more runs in the third inning to give UAPBÂ an early 7-0 lead in the top of the third. In the opening inning,
Alexandria Taylor produced a two-RBI double that brought in both
Shanice Akins and
Ta'Lyn Moody.
Monique Nikolao then got an RBI as Taylor crossed home plate. In the third inning, Nikolao brought in Taylor once again, this time off of an RBI-triple.
Kameron Graham then produced a single that saw Nikolao touch home plate. Minutes later, Graham took advantage of a Jackson State center field error and scored all the way from second base to give UAPB a 6-0 lead in the third inning.
Nicole Garcia then generated an RBI-single that helped
Toni Martinez score.
However, Jackson State answered back with four runs in the bottom of the fourth and three more in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game up at seven apiece. The Lady Lions responded with a run of its own in the top of the sixth when Akins picked up an RBI-double that brought in Hawkins as UAPB regained the lead. Once again, the Lady Tigers bounced back with a run in the seventh inning that tied the game again.Â
Both teams scored one run each in the ninth inning as Lady Lions hitter Nikolao produced an RBI-single that saw Taylor cross home plate. Furthermore, the game entered extra innings when Jackson State scored a run in the final inning to tie the game 9-9.
In the tenth inning, UAPB's bats caught fire as it produced yet another four-run inning that started off with Graham touching home plate via a Martinez RBI, then Garcia produced another RBI that brought in Martinez. Moments later, Moody yanked an RBI-triple that brought in Garcia, and Moody eventually scored on the same play off an error by Jackson State.
The Lady Tigers managed just one run in the bottom of the tenth inning off of an error, but it wasn't enough as UAPB shut the door on any comeback attempt with a 13-10 victory. UAPB pitcher
Karia Hall (1-6) picked up her first win of the year while teammate
Angelique Ramos got the save. Hall went a total of six innings and Ramos pitched for 3.2 innings. Ramos finished with a team-high three strikeouts in the victory.
As a team Jackson State finished with more hits (17) than UAPBÂ (16), but the Lady Tigers produced a total of seven errors to five for UAPB.

The Lady Lions produced two five-run innings along with a four-run inning to dismantle Jackson State 17-1 in the rubber match.
Alexandria Taylor produced an RBI in the first inning that scored
Tonnay Hawkins. In the second inning,
Kayla Ross scored whileÂ
Kameron Graham stole second base. Hawkins then got an RBI-double that brought in Graham.
Shanice Akins generated a two-RBI single that saw
Ta'Lyn Moody and Hawkins both come across home plate.
In the third and fourth innings, the onslaught continued as Graham and Ross scored off a Jackson State error.
Alexandria Taylor then hit an RBI-single up the middle that brought in Moody.
Ann Jones came across home plate thanks to another Lady Tigers error, then
Nicole Garcia managed a two-RBI double that brought in
Toni Martinez and Graham. Then with the bases loaded, Taylor took a base on balls which forced Garcia home for yet another Lady Lions run.
Monique Nikolao then produced an RBI sacrifice fly as Hawkins scampered across home plate.
As a team the Lady Lions produced 12 hits to just four for Jackson State, who finished with a total of 10 errors. UAPBÂ pitcher
Juliana Dominguez (2-4) picked up the victory and gave up just one run and four hits in five innings as she fanned three batters.Â
UAPBÂ (5-16, 2-1 SWAC) returns to action on Friday, March 23 as it plays host to Mississippi Valley State University in a three-game series, including a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch on Friday is set for 2 p.m. at the Torii Hunter Softball Complex.
