Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 HONOLULU, Hawaii - Arkansas-Pine Bluff participated in the 2018 Outrigger Resorts Spring Fling Tournament. The team faced stiff competition but had plenty to build on heading into conference play. In game one the Lady Lions suffered a 5-1 loss to James Madison due to a late grand slam from its opponent. In game two East Carolina made a late push to run away with the game including nine runs in one inning. UAPB had its best chance for a victory in game three as a late comeback attempt fell short with a 3-1 loss to Brigham Young University. Game four proved to be a defensive struggle as UAPB fell 4-1 to Longwood in another low-scoring affair. In game five, the Lady Lions dropped the tourney finale to the host University of Hawaii 5-0 as it mustered up just one hit in the contest, but was in a true pitching duel until the final innings.

James Madison 5, UAPB 1

The Lady Lions took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third as Shanice Akins scampered across home plate off of a Tonnay Hawkins RBI-sac bunt. However, a fourth-inning grand slam gave James Madison the lead for good. Hawkins, Kayla Ross, Monique Nikolao and Taylor Alexander were each credited with a hit as teammate Karia Hall (0-5) picked up the loss for the Lady Lions.

East Carolina 13, UAPB 2 (6 innings)

East Carolina took a four run lead in the top of the fourth inning, but the Lady Lions responded with two runs of its own in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a Tonnay Hawkins RBI-single to right field that brought in Karia Hall. Ta'Lyn Moody then produced an RBI-single that scored Nicole Garcia. That was UAPB's last run scored before a huge 9-run fifth inning for East Carolina that put the game away for good. UAPB pitcher Angelique Ramos (2-4) was credited with the loss as she gave up a total of seven earned runs.

BYU 3, UAPB 1

BYU scored a run in the first, third and fifth innings before UAPB attempted a comeback with with a Shanice Akins RBI-single to right field that scored Tamira Chatman, but Kameron Graham was thrown out at home. Tonnay Hawkins then grounded out which ended any chances of a comeback and left the game-tying run (Akins) stranded on first. UAPB finished with more hits (6) than its opponent (5) but simply could not cash in runs. UAPB pitcher Juliana Dominguez (1-4) picked up the loss but gave up just five hits all game. Hawkins finished with a game-high three hits.

Longwood 4, UAPB 1

After a pair of scoreless innings for both teams, Longwood scored one in the third and two in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead before UAPB answered back with a run in the top of the sixth as Monique Nikolao picked up a RBI via base on balls which scored Ta'Lyn Moody. That forced a Longwood pitching change, but the Lady Lions couldn't complete the comeback as Karia Hall grounded out to end the rally. Longwood produced a home run in the bottom of the inning to close the door for good on UAPB, who fell to 3-14 after the loss. Longwood gave up a total of just three hits to the Lady Lions as UAPB pitcher Angelique Ramos (2-5) was credited with the loss. In addition, Hall came in relief of Ramos and gave up just one hit in 2.2 innings.

Hawaii 5, UAPB 0

The first four innings proved to be a true pitching duel between Karia Hall and Dana Thomsen. However, Hawaii broke the scoreless tie with two runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth inning to prevail 5-0 over UAPB. Hawaii gave up just one hit to the Lady Lions as Tonnay Hawkins singled to right field in the third inning. Hall (0-6) picked up the loss for UAPB while Thomsen received the win for Hawaii.
