Box Score BATON ROUGE, La. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff suffered a second straight loss, this time at the hands of Southern University by the score of 70-62 at the F.G. Clark Activity Center. Shooting guard
Martaveous McKnight led all scorers with 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field and also grabbed five boards, four assists and two steals in the loss while fellow Golden Lion
Travon Harper was a red hot 8-of-9 from the field and finished with 19 points, two blocks and one rebound before fouling out of the game. Harper was 3-for-4 from downtown.
Although UAPB shot nearly 50 percent from the field, it was dominated on the glass and lost the rebound battle 43-27. UAPB gave up 20 second chance points to Southern and only scored one second-chance basket itself.
The Golden Lions (9-16, 9-3 SWAC) hit a total of seven free throws as well as seven three-pointers in the game. UAPB squandered a four-point halftime lead and was outscored by the Jaguars (11-14, 7-5 SWAC) 43-31 in the second half thanks to solid play from shooting guard Eddie Reese who finished with 19 points and hit a total of four 3-pointers in the win while teammate Jared Sam produced a double-double as he scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the win.

Joe'Randle Toliver both had relatively quiet games on the road and scored eight points and five points respectively.
The Golden Lions are now tied with Grambling for first place, with the follow up meeting on February 24 in Grambling, Louisiana. Grambling has now won nine straight SWAC games.
UAPB retuns to action on Monday, February 12 as it travels to Mississippi to face Alcorn State in SWAC play. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. On January 15, the Golden Lions defeated Alcorn 72-66 at H.O. Clemmons Arena in Pine Bluff.
