Box Score Pine Bluff, AR. – A tough beginning to the second half was too much to overcome as the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (0-1-0) fell to the University of Central Arkansas (1-0-0), 6-0, on opening day.

The Lady Lions held UCA scoreless in the first half, by playing fast to the ball and a very aggressive style of defense.

After intermission the Lady Bears Camillie Bassett tallied the first goal in the 5th minute with a shot into the upper left corner.  UCA then doubled their lead 15 minutes later when Dayna Mounie buried a left-footed shot into the netting, to give UCA a 2-0 lead.

UCA would net a third in the 62nd minute.  The Lady Bears built up down the right side, with Camillie Bassett sending in a low ball across the box.  Dayna Mounie was on the other end, flicking in a shot with a header to the back post for the goal, for her second points of the game.

The Lady Bears would soon tack on three more goals to close out the game in a non-conference match.

The Lady Lions best scoring chance came in the 78th  minute when Rebecca Holmes ripped a shot that was tipped off the hands by UCA goalkeeper Lauren Mercuri for the save.

Sariah Orocu made eight saves in her first career start at UAPB.

The Lady Lions will be back in action at home for its next contest on Friday, Aug. 25 when it faces Youngstown St. at 3 p.m.
