Box Score (Lorman, Miss.) The Lady Lions of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff had its best outing of the season with a 4-2 victory over conference foe Alcorn State University at Spinks-Casem Stadium.
Shannon Seymour,
Karissa Fenwick,
Tyler Babb and
Rebecca Holmes each scored a goal in the Southwestern Athletic Conference victory.
Despite giving up the first goal of the game (22nd minute), UAPB (2-12-1, 2-6-1 SWAC) roared back and scored four unanswered goals; three of those came before halftime. Goal keeper
Sariah Orocu finished the game with four saves while Seymour led the team with a total of five shots.
After making it to last season's championship game, the Lady Lions have struggled with several injuries this season but are still not out of the post-season picture. With a recent 6-3 loss to Mississippi Valley State University, the ladies fall to 2-6-1 in SWAC play; however, UAPB currently sits in ninth place with one game remaining as the top eight teams get a chance to contend in post-season play. Despite being on the outside looking in, a win in its final game of the regular season and an upset victory over tough conference foe Grambling on the road could be the miracle chance that UAPB needs depending on what happens around the conference.
UAPB travels to Grambling, La. on Friday, October 27 to face one of the top teams in the conference in Grambling State University. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
