Box Score (Pine Bluff, Ark.) On a hot fall day at Pumphrey Stadium, the Lady Lions suffered a 2-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference loss against Alabama A&M on Homecoming week.

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff gave up a goal within the first minute of a game on a mishap between defender Sarah Wright and reigning SWAC Goalkeeper of the Week Sariah Orocu which led Lady Bulldogs striker Daijah DeRamus to basically have a free shot on goal within the six yard box. However, the Lady Lions would answer back before halftime with a goal to tie game on a great header from lone senior midfielder Allison Herrin off a beautiful ball into the box from Karissa Fenwick.

"Alabama A&M were in need of a win, but so were we," said UAPB head coach Marcus Hoover.  "Both sides fought very hard for this game but the unfortunate side of it was that we just made a few costly mistakes and later repeated those mistakes which ended up costing us. We did fight through it with the goal to tie but when you make too many mistakes on a Division 1 level, you do pay for them."

In the second half, A&M (2-12, 1-5 SWAC) took a lead on another simple goal in the 67th minute on a UAPB (1-10-1, 1-4-1 SWAC)miscue, this time from Ayanna Gooden, who earned a yellow card late in the first half while jostling for position on a corner kick.

The Lady Lions soccer team returns to action on Sunday, October 15 on Senior Day as it hosts Alabama State in the last home game of the year and a rematch of last year's SWAC championship game where UAPB fell to the Lady . The game will be live streamed on the SWAC network and can be viewed on www.swac.org.
