UCA Holds Off Lady Lions, 3-0 In Non-Conference Play

Box Score Conway, ARK. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff  women's soccer team dropped its second  game of the 2016 campaign to University of Central Arkansas Sugar Bears on Sunday evening, 3-0.

With the loss in its second road game of the season, the Lady Lions fell to 0-2 overall, while UCA improved to 2-2 on the start of its season.

UCA struck first in the 32nd minute when Alex Moore slipped by the Lady Lions defenders setting up Anslea Haikey to bring the score to 1-0, heading into intermission.  In the second half the Sugar Bears struck again when Stacia Carroll connected with Chele Naudin for a 2-0 lead in the 52nd minute.

UCA wasted no time late in the second half and increased its lead, 3-0, in the 82nd minute of action.

UAPB mounted several attacks throughout the match, but just could not get the ball through UCA's defense and past the Sugar Bears' goalkeeper, Anna Hughes and Lauren Mercuri.

Senior goalkeeper Makayla Cowles picked up 10 saves in the loss.

The Lady Lions will host Ark-Little Rock Tuesday Aug. 30, 3pm for their home opener.  The admission for the game is free to enter.
