Lady Lions Soccer Falls to Oral Roberts, in Season Opener

Tulsa, OK. - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women's soccer drops a season opener to Summit conference foe Oral Roberts 3-0, in a non conference match Friday night at the Case Soccer Complex. UAPB were led by Makayla Cowles who saved 11 shots on the day, as the Lady Lions drop to 0-1-0.

The start to the game saw head coach Jamie Hutchinson team on defense, as the Golden Eagles pushed the Lady Lions into their own territory. Cowles, who got the start between the pipes, stopped two shots in the opening period, while junior Veronica Parker registered her first season shot on goal.

Oral Roberts took the lead 14 minutes into the game on a goal by Brittney Lawrence and doubled its lead 13 minutes before the halftime whistle, when Caitlyn Hanslovan tapped in a pass by Lawrence. Hanslovan would strike again at the 39:26 mark to give the Golden Eagles a 3-0 lead going into intermission.

The Lady Lions tried to rally in the second half, but Kelsey Martin shot was turned away. Ryliegh Bohnensriehi and Paige Vincent combined for two saves for the Golden Eagles in the game.

UAPB Lady Lions will return to action on the road Sunday Aug. 28, as they take on Central Arkansas at 6:00 pm, before coming home to play Ark-Little Rock Tuesday Aug. 30 at 3:00 pm.
