CENTRAL MICHIGAN SURGES PAST UAPB, 82-59

Box Score PLEASANT, Mich. (Dec. 3) - Once again it was the tell of two halves for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Men's Basketball team with Central Michigan defeating the Golden Lions, 82-59 here Saturday afternoon at McGuirk Arena.
 
In the first half of play, UAPB jumped out to a 9-0 lead, capped off by a Travon Harper put back at the 17:39 mark as the Golden Lions never trailed in the half.
 
CMU used an 11-3 run to cut UAPB's lead 12-11 on a Marcus Keene three pointer with 14:23 left in the half.
 
The Golden Lions then extended their lead to a 20-14 with a 6-2 run on a Trent Steen dunk with 12:47 left to go in the half.
 
CMU pulled with two on a Cecil Williams three point play at the 7:49 mark, cutting UAPB's lead to 28-26.
 
The Chippewas outscored the Golden Lions 13-11 in the final seven minutes of the half to tie the score at 39-39 heading into the break.
 
UAPB finished the first half shooting 47.1 percent (16-of-34), while CMU shot 37.9 percent (11-of-29). 
 
In the second half, CMU scored the first basket of the half on a Luke Meyer layup with 19:21 remaining to give the Chippewas a 41-39 lead, their first lead of the contest.
 
CMU then extended their lead to 55-44 with a 14-5 run with 13:04 to go in the half. 
 
The Chippewas outscored the Golden Lions 43-20 in the second half for the 82-59 win.
 
UAPB finished the contest shooting 37.7 percent (23-of-61), while CMU shot 42.4 percent (25-of-59).  The Chippewas held the rebounding margin over the Golden Lions, 40-37.
 
UAPB (1-7) was paced by Trent Steen with recording his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds.  Ghiavonni Robinson was the only other Golden Lion to finish in double-figures with 11 points. 
 
CMU (7-2) had four players to score in double-figures with Marcus Keene scoring a game high 31 points and four assists. Keene scored 24 of his 31 points from behind the three point arc.  Both Josh Kozinski and Cecil Williams finishing with 11 points apiece and David DiLeo with 10.  Williams led the team on the boards with eight.
