Box Score PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Nov. 4) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Soccer team advances to the 2016 Southwestern Athletic Conference Soccer Championship game with a 3-1 sudden death win over Howard University, here Friday afternoon at the Prairie View A&M Soccer Complex/Athletics Facility.
 
In the sudden death period of the contest, Daniel Montone scored the Lady Lions first goal of the match on her shootout kick, to give UAPB a 1-0 lead. 
 
Nicole Bond tied the score at 1-1 for Howard as her shootout kick was successful. 
 
Howard would miss their next two shootout kick, whereas UAPB would make their next two shootout kicks by Victoria Bresler and Maria De Campos, to give the Lady Lions the 3-1 win.
 
Cierra Fenwick led the Lady Lions in shot attempts with three, followed by both Karissa Fenwick and Allison Herrin with two shots each and UAPB had five players to finish with one shot attempt apiece.
 
Howard was led by Kela Gray with four shot attempts, followed by both Hollie Cartwright and Noelle McCullom with three kicks each and Carmen Suarez and Nicole Bond with two shots apiece.
 
Makayla Cowles the UAPB goalkeepers finished the contest with 11 saves, whereas Gabrielle Emilien the Howard goalkeeper finished with eight saves.
 
Up next for the Lady Lions will be Alabama State in the 2016 SWAC Soccer Tournament Championship game.  In their regular season matchup, the Lady Hornets defeated UAPB, 3-1 in Montgomery, Ala.
 
UAPB will make their first SWAC Tournament final appearance since the 2009 season with the Lady Lions defeating Prairie View A&M 1-0.  The 2009 UAPB SWAC Soccer Championship was later vacated due to NCAA sanctions.
