UAPB and Texas Southern Play to 1-1 Draw 2 OT in SWAC Action

Box Score Pine Bluff, AR. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Texas Southern played to a 1-1 draw Friday evening at Pumphrey Stadium. The Lady Lions ran its unbeaten streak in conference to three games with the result and moved to 2-5-1 on the season (2-0-1 SWAC). Texas Southern meanwhile, watched its record go to 4-5-1 (2-0-1 SWAC).

The Lady Lions scored first when Veronica Parker found Karissa Fenwick streaking down the middle of the field in the 20th minute. Fenwick, a sophomore, beat the keeper to the right post for her second goal of the season.

Texas Southern answered with a goal of their own in the 70:21 minute, when UAPB was called on a hand ball at the corner of the net which resulted in a penalty kick by Alexia Ladipo to knot the score at 1-1.

After a pair of scoreless 10 minute overtimes, the match ended in a draw.

Senior Veronica Parker led the way for the Lady Lions with three shots, follow by sophomore Karrissa Fenwick and junior Cierra Fenwick each took two shots for UAPB.

UAPB outshot the TSU by a final count of 12-10 and both goalies finish with five save apiece between the posts.

The Lady Lion soccer team will continue its two match home stretch against Prairie View on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1:00 p.m.
