UAPB LADY LIONS TRAVELS TO ARKANSAS STATE FOR OPENING MATCH ON SUNDAY

Tierra Poyner is one of two returning starters for the Lady Lions

Pine Bluff, Ark. - First-year head coach Jamie Hutchison and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women's soccer team are set to open the 2015 campaign with their first non conference in-state game of the season, as the Lady Lions will travel to Jonesboro, Ark. to square off against Arkansas State Lady Red Wolves on Sunday Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. CT the A-State Soccer Complex.

Jamie Hutchison was named the fourth head coach in the history of the women's soccer program on April 9, joining the Lady Lions from Oterio Junior College in La Junta, Colorado. In just two seasons at Oterio, Hutchinson led the team to two nationally rankings, where he spent two seasons as a head coach, including leading the Rattlers to a 13-3-2 and winning Regional IX District Champion, which rank the team no. 4 in the NCJAA and a berth to the NCJAA National Tournament in 2014.

Hutchison new-look Lady Lion's squad welcomes 17 new players in 2015, including nine freshman and five junior college transfers. The young roster features 12 freshman/sophomores, while just seven upperclassmen round out the squad. The Lady Lions returns two starters, one on the defensive backline, Tierra Poyner and a midfielder Kristen Moore.
