Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Nov. 7) - Southern University handed the University of Arkansas at Pine football team their third straight home loss as the Jaguars defeated the Golden Lions, 57-24 here Saturday afternoon at Golden Lion Stadium.
SU set a new UAPB record with the most points scored by an opponent in Golden Lion Stadium. Prairie View A&M previously held the record as they scored 51 points against UAPB in last year's homecoming game at Golden Lion Stadium.
The Jaguars took a 41-8 lead into the break as SU scored on six of their seven possession in the first half. SU has six different players to score a TD in the half with the Jaguars scoring five TDs and one field goal.
UAPB scored lit up the scoreboard in the second half with Kevin Rucker returning a block PAT for a two-point conversion at the 6:58 mark of the second quarter, making the score 41-2 in favor of SU.
Just five minutes later,
Dante McDonald scored from one-yard out to score UAPB's first Td of the game with 35 seconds remaining in the second quarter.
In the second half both teams scored 16 points each with SU scoring 16 in the third quarter and UAPB scoring 16 in the fourth quarter.
Both Lenard Tillery and Malcolm Crocket scored in the third quarter for the SU. Tillery scored his second TD of the game 13 yards at the 9:19 mark, whereas Malcolm Crokcet scored his second TD of the game from four yards out at the 1:23 mark. In addition, SU scored a team safety at the 8:54 mark, when a UAPB fumble rolled out of the back of the end zone.
In the fourth quarter, both
KeShawn Williams and John Hawkins recorded TDs for the Golden Lions.
KeShawn Williams scored UAPB's second TD of the game on a 28-yard run at the 12:07 mark of the quarter, followed by a John Hawkins 17-yard TD reception from
Brandon Duncan with 4:21 left in the contest for the 57-24 finale.
Williams led the Golden Lions in rushing with 60 yards on seven carries and scoring one TD.
Brandon Duncan in his second start of the season passed for 114 yards by completing 15 passes in 30 attempts with one TD and one Interception.
Willie Young led the UAPB receivers with 41 yards on four receptions.
Willie Duncan led the UAPB defense with 15 tackles and two tackles for loss.
SU had two running backs to rush for the century mark with Tillery finishing with a game high 111 yards on 14 carries with two TDs, followed by Malcolm Crocket with 107 yards on 22 carries with one TD.
Austin Howard the SU field general finished the contest with 229 yards by completing 15 passes in 21 attempts with four TDs.
Willie Quinn led the Jaguar receivers with 56 yards on four receptions with one TD.
Both Alfred Palomino and Dakota Stark finished the contest with six tackles apiece to led the SU defense.
