Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Nov. 14) - In their home finale, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff dropped a 49-31 decision to Grambling State, here Saturday afternoon at Golden Lion Stadium.
GSU jumped out to 14-0 lead with a pair of TDs with Tigers scoring on a Chad Williams 44-yard TD reception from J. Williams at the 10:55 mark. Then just four minutes later Martez Carter punched it in for the Tigers from nine-yards out with 6:14 remaining in first quarter.
Jamie Gillan scored the Golden Lions first points of the contest with a 37-yard field with 2:19 left in the in the first quarter to cut GSU's lead to 14-3.
GSU ended the first half with a 41-yard Verlan Hunter TD reception from Williams as time expired to give the Tigers a 21-3 lead into the break.
The Tigers scored on their first two possessions of the first with Jateri Pouncey scoring on a 22-yard interception for TD. Then Hunter would score his second TD of the game on a nine –yard TD reception from Williams, giving the Tigers a 35-3 lead.
Jamal Hundley set up the Golden Lions first TD of the game with an 86-yard interception returned to the GSU three-yard line. Then three plays later,
Brandon Duncan jumped over the pile from one-yard out to score with 6:50 to go in the third quarter, making the score 35-10 in favor of Tigers.
Then the UAPB defense would force GSU second fumble of the game when Martez Carter was hit from behind the line of scrimmage by
Jontrell Lockett. Just two plays later, Duncan connected with Patrick Rowland from 15-yards out with six minutes left in the third quarter, cutting GSU's lead to 35-17.
GSU answered on their next possession on a Chester Roger four-yard run with five minutes left in the third quarter, increasing their lead to 42-17.
UAPB outscored GSU 14-7 in the fourth quarter with Duncan throwing two TD passing in the quarter. He connected with
Willie Young from 39-yards out and John Hawkins from 17 yards out.
GSU scored their final TD of the contest on a Carter 58-yard TD run for the 49-31 finale.
This is the first time this season that the UAPB offense tallied over 500 yards of total offense with the Golden Lions rushing for 125 yards and passing for 459 yards, finishing with 584 yards of total offense.
In his third start of the season, Duncan passed for a season high 459 yards by completing 34 passes in 52 attempts with three TDs and three interceptions.
Duncan led the team in rushing as he rushed for 41 yards on 10 carries and scoring one TD.
Young led the UAPB receivers with 181 yards on 12 receptions with one TD, followed by John Hawkins with 118 yards on nine receptions with one TD.

Carter led the GSU ground attack with 99 yards nine carries with one TD, followed by Jestin Kelly with 70 yards on 15 carries.
Williams the GSU field general finished the contest with 339 yards by completing 28 passes in 38 attempts with four TDs and two interceptions, while Chad Williams led the GSU receivers with 125 yards on eight receptions with one TD.
