Box Score Lorman, MS.- The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women's soccer team defeated Alcorn St. Lady Braves 6-0, Friday night at the Alcorn St. soccer complex.
The Lady Lions took a 3-0 lead into halftime after first-half goals from Gabby Ybrra (6:38), sophomore Cierra Fenwick (11:38) and freshman Rebecca Holmes ( 16:43).Â
Cierra Fenwick scored her second goal to start the second half for UAPB with a left-footed shot from close range in the 59th minute to push the Lady Lions ahead 4-0 before freshman Karissa Fenwick pushed the lead to 5-0, in 60th minute off a deflection inside the box. Karissa Fenwick added her second goal of the game for the Lady Lions in the final 20 minutes.
UAPB finished with a 6-0 victory for its largest advantage against a conference opponent this season.
Overall, the Lady Lions outshot the Lady Braves 18-3 with six shots on goal. Junior Makayla Cowles made one save in 90 minutes for her third shutout of the season.
Itta Bena, MS.- The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women's soccer team dropped its first road game of the weekend in the Southwestern Athletic Conference play, falling to Mississippi Valley 4-0 Sunday afternoon.
UAPB (5-7-0, 4-2-0 SWAC) defense was under pressure the entire game, but the defense played great and kept the Lady Deviletts (7-6-1, 4-0-1 SWAC) off the board despite the offensive barrage for most of the first half.
The contest started out slow, however MVSU moved forward, scoring two goals within minutes of each other. Ernestina Abambila earned the first goal for the Devilettes on a pass from Haley Hendricks at the 34:55 mark. Heather Craddock followed with a score at 35:30 with Laadi Issaka being credited the assist. Abambila finished first half scoring for MVSU at 41:34, Nykosi Simmons assisted.
The final goal of the contest came from Simmons with Hendricks with the assist.
Karissa Fenwick took three shots, all being on goal, to lead the UAPB on offense. Makayla Cowless took over defensively, saving 10 goal attempts.
UAPB will be back in action against at home against Howard Lady Bison Friday October 16, at Pumphrey Stadium at 3:00p.m.
