PRAIRIE VIEW DOWNS UAPB, 51-23

Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Nov. 8)  - Prairie View A&M played the role of spoiler with a 51-23 win over the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Football team on their homecoming, here Saturday afternoon at Golden Lion Stadium.

Chris Barrick gave the PVAMU a 3-0 lead as he nailed a 28-yard field goal with 10:20 remaining in the first quarter.

On their next possession, the Golden Lions tied the contest at 3-3 on a 45-yard field goal by Tyler Strickland, capping a 13-play, 47-yard drive by UAPB.

PVAMU scored two touchdowns in two minutes on a Johnta Hebert 16-yard TD run and a Jerry Lovelock 14-yard run to give the Panthers a 17-3 at the end the first quarter.

The UAPB defense set up the Golden Lions next score as UAPB recovered a Hebert fumble on the Prairie A&M 20 yard line.  Two plays later, the UAPB quarterback Benjamin Anders connect with Isiah Ferguson from 14 yards out cutting UAPB lead to 17-10 with 4:54 to go in the half.

PVAMU added to their lead on a 14-yard TD pass to Nick Pitre from Lovelock as UAPB went into the intermission trailing the Panthers, 24-10.

At the end of the third quarter, UAPB trailed PVAMU 48-17 as the Panthers scored on all four of their five possessions in the quarter, whereas Marvante King returned his first kickoff return for touchdown with an 88-yard return at the 9:05 mark of the third quarter.

  Anderson scored UAPB's final TD of the game from two-yards out with 5:39 left in the game as they UAPB forced a Christian Rosseau fumble.

The UAPB forced four take-a-ways in the game with three fumble recoveries and one interception as PVAMU went on to win the contest 51-23.

Brian Handley led UAPB's ground attack as he finished the contest with 87 yards on 18 carries with his longest rush on the evening being for 38 yards.

Anderson finished the contest with 173 yards passing as he completed 15 passes in 32 attempts with one TD. 

Ferguson led the team in receptions with seven receptions for 60 yards, followed by Joel Porchia with 58 yards on two receptions.  Handley also finished the contest with 53 receiving yards on two receptions.

 Defensively UAPB was led by Jared Turner and Kyle Walker as they both finished with 11 tackles each for the Golden Lions.

Hebert led the PVAMU ground attack as he finished the contest with 122 yards on 14 carries with one TD, followed by Arthur Lockett with 106 yards on 14 carries.
Lovelocke tallied 355 yards through the air as he completed 23 passes in 36 attempts with one interception and four TDs.

Pitre led the Panthers' receivers with 88 yards on five receptions with two TDs, followed by Rayshaun Givens with 66 yards on three receptions.  Also Hebert had two TD receptions as he finished the contest with 39 yards on three receptions.

Jerome Howard and Danny Brownell led the PVAMU defense as they both finished with 11 tackles apiece for the Panthers.

With the loss, UAPB drops to 3-6 and 2-5 in conference play, whereas PVAMU moves to 4-5 and 4-4 in conference play.

UAPB will return to action on Saturday, November 15 as they will travel to Alcorn State, Miss., to take on Alcorn State at Jack Spinks/Mario Casem Sta
