UAPB HOLDS OFF ALABAMA A&M FOR 20-19 WIN

Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Nov. 22) - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff end their 2014 season on a good note as the Golden Lions defeated Alabama A&M, 20-19 here Saturday afternoon at Golden Lion Stadium in their annual senior day game.

 AAMU grabbed the early7-0 lead on a Brandon Eldemire five-yard run with 1:42 left in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs added to their lead with a Ceasar Ramon Diaz 26-yard field goal with 12:30 left in the second quarter, giving AAMU a 10-0 lead.

An Andrew Mitchell interception set up the Golden Lions first score of the game as Benjamin Anderson scored from one-yard out with 8:22 left in the half as the Golden Lions went into the break trailing the Bulldogs, 10-7 at the half.

UAPB took the lead on an Anderson 39 yard TD pass to Brian Handley with 6:40 left in the third quarter, giving the Golden Lions a 14-13 lead.

A Virgin Johnson interception set up the Bulldogs final score of the game as Jaymason Lee connected with Tevin McKenzie from eight yards out with 10:47 left in the fourth, giving AAMU a 19-14 lead after failed two-point attempt.

On their ensuing drive, the Golden Lions would go 73-yards on nine plays,  as  Anderson  scored his second rushing TD of the game from 15-yard out, giving UAPB a 20-19 lead after the fail two-point conversion.

AAMU would go 59 yards on 15 plays to set up a Diaz-Ramon 33-yard field that would sail wide left with 1:58 left in the game, giving the Golden Lions the 20-19 win.

In his final game of his career, Anderson finished the contest with 358 yards of total offense as he rushed for 133 yards on 15 carries and scoring two TDs and passed for 225 yards by completing 15 passes in 20 attempts with one TD pass and one two interceptions.

Handley finished the contest with 67 yards on 12 carries, while Willie Young led the UAPB receivers with 59 yards on four receptions.

On defense, UAPB was led by both Willie Duncan and Jontrel Lockett as they both finished with 12 tackles apiece.  Duncan and Lockett both finished with five solos and seven assisted tackles each, while Lockett recorded one sack and two tackles for loss.

Eldemire led the AAMU ground attack with 53 yards on 20 carries and one TD, while Jaymason Lee passed f or 265 yards by completing 21 passes in 46 attempts with one TD and three interceptions.

O'Dar Williams led the Bulldogs receivers with 109 yards on eight receptions with his longest receptions being for 29 yards.

Anthony Lanier led the AAMU defense with six tackles and two tackles for loss, followed by Danny Johnson with five.

With the win, UAPB finishes the season 4-7 overall and 3-6 in conference play, while AAMU finishes the season 4-8 and 3-6 in conference play.
