LADY LIONS FALL 4-0 TO TEXAS SOUTHERN

Box Score Pine Bluff, Ark. – University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff was unable to overcome a home conference game Friday afternoon and having to play down a player for nearly half of the game due to injury as Texas Southern claimed a 4-0 win at Pumphrey Stadium.

"We played well to start the match and gave up some goals against the run of play," Head Coach Rohan Naraine said.
Texas Southern capitalized one more opportunities in the final minute before the half to hold a 2-0 lead after the first 45 minutes of play.

TSU out-shot the Lady Lions 30-to-7 on the night as UAPB was unable to take advantage on limited opportunities against a stingy Tigers defense.

TSU got on the board on a counter after the Lady Lions had pressed the attack and kept the ball on the Lady Tigers side of the field for several minutes.  TSU took the ball away on an attack down the near sideline and connected through the middle to find Tiana Humphrey.  Humphrey then sent the ball ahead behind the Lady Lions defense where Kaylah Valdry attacked the goal and put it in the net in the 75th minute to push the lead to 3-0.

Valerie Cortez added her second goal of the night in the 83rd minute as she knocked in a loose ball that deflected around in the TSU box to make the score 4-0.

Brittany Roberts ended the evening with a game -high nine saves for the Lady Lions.

UAPB will return to action on Sunday afternoon, hosting the Prairie View Panthers in a Southwestern Conference match at 1 p.m.
