JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The weekend trip to sunny Florida turned into a thunderstorm for the Lady Lions soccer team as they ran into a pair of dominant opponents. UAPB lost to North Florida 10-1 on Friday night and Florida Atlantic 10-0 on Sunday afternoon.
As has been the case in many of the UAPB matches this season, the Lady Lions were unable to generate any offensive production in either game. The Lady Lions had only two shots against North Florida and one versus FAU.
Despite the low shot production on Friday, UAPB only trailed North Florida 2-1 at halftime. Midfielder Kayla Reynolds scored the only goal for the Lady Lions. Her goal in the 35th minute tied the game at 1-1. But, UNF reclaimed the lead less than a minute later and reeled off eight unanswered in the final 45 minutes of the game. A
fter a solid first half, keeper Alyssa Cobbs was overwhelmed by UNF. She finished the game with 19 saves.
After a lopsided shot differential against UNF, the Lady Lions were outshot 40-1 by FAU. Twenty-two of those shots were on-goal. Cobbs stopped 12 of the assaults, but she was saddled with 10 goals against her.
The Lady Lions will face Arkansas State on Friday in State University, Ark.
