LITTLE ROCK -- The Arkansas-Pine Bluff soccer team fell to 0-3 with a 4-0 loss on the road to the University of Arkansas-Little Rock. For the second time this season, the Lady Lions were held without a shot.
While UAPB struggled on offense, keeper Alyssa Cobbs was working overtime. She faced a barrage of shots all night long. She saved 16 of the 20 shots on goal that she faced. UALR had 47 total shots in the game.
UALR wasted little time getting on the board, scoring 2:23 into the contest. Paige Mason scored the first of two goals in the game, giving UALR a 1-0 lead. The score remained the same after the first 45 minutes.
Ariel Galletti gave the Lady Trojans a two-goal lead scoring off of a long pass from Ashley Barksdale in the 56th minute. Then, back-to-back goals late put the game away. Barksdale provided the assist on a corner kick, which was headed in by Olivia Goddard at 72:05. A minute and a half later, Mason notched her second goal at 73:44, with an assist from Adrianna Queen.
Still seeking their first win of the season, UAPB travels to Hattiesburg, Miss. on Friday to face Southern Mississippi.
