PINE BLUFF -- With a tournament berth on the line, the Lady Lions fought Southwestern Athletic Conference leader Southern University to a 0-0 tie. UAPB went to 2-14-3 and 0-2-2 after the tie. If Grambling loses or ties Southern on Sunday, UAPB will earn a berth in the SWAC tournament. UAPB and Grambling were tied coming into the final weekend, with the Lady Lions holding a slim tiebreaker by virtue of point deferential.

The match was nearly a dead heat, with both teams having seven shots on goal. Southern finished the match with 18 total shots, while UAPB had 15. Both keepers, Alyssa Cobbs of UAPB and Kerinn Hall of SU saved all seven shots they faced.

Senior forward Celeste Carrera had five shots to lead UAPB, while Jami Blackston also had five to pace Southern.

The Lady Lions will conclude the regular season with a home match against Jackson State on Sunday afternoon.
