ITTA BENA, Miss. -- The Lady Lions scored first, but Mississippi Valley answered with a pair of goals en route to a 2-1 win on Sunday afternoon. UAPB slipped to 2-11-1 with the loss, while MVSU improved to 3-7-1.

IUAPB took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Erica Cervantes in the 11th minute. Josee Primeau tied the game for the Devilettes with an assisted goal in the 14th minute. Shanesse Spratt had the assist on the play, tying the score at 1-1. Later in the half, MVSU took the lead when Primeau assisted Nykosi Simmons on the go-ahead goal in the 38th minute.

MVSU outshot UAPB 27-9. UAPB keeper Alyssa Cobbs finished the game with nine saves, while MVSU stopper Shelby Willcocks had five.

The Lady Lions have pair of matches at home for Homecoming weekend. On Friday, they will host Alabama A&M, then Alabama State comes to town on Sunday.
