LORMAN -- The UAPB soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Alcorn State in a non-conference match on the road. The Lady Lions fell to 2-10-1 with the loss, while Alcorn picked up their first win of the season, improving to 1-5-1.
ASU led 1-0 at halftime on the strength of a goal by Chavon Douglas' in the 16th minute. Then in the second half, back-to-back goals by Nefaterria Phillips, one in the 51st minute and the other in the 64th minute, gave the Lady Braves a 3-0 lead.
The lone goal for the Lady Lions came in the 68th minute, unassisted from Traebiyana Dimanche.
Their wasn't much offense in the game as the teams combined for just 13 shots total. There were eight shots for Alcorn, while UAPB had five.
UAPB goalkeeper Alyssa Cobbs finished the game with five saves.
The road weekend continues for the Lady Lions on Sunday with a conference match at defending SWAC champion Mississippi Valley State.
