SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -- Southwestern Athletic Conference champions the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff has been voted Black College National Champion by the American Sports Wire. The Golden Lions (10-2) finished first in the final Black College Poll with 33 first place votes and 167 points.

UAPB won their first HBCU football national championship and their first outright SWAC title since 1966. The 10-win season was the first in school history, and the most wins in one season for head coach Monte Coleman.
