Monte Coleman not only secured another winning season for his Golden Lion football team, he also coached the team to their first shut-out in four years.
“That's big for us,” Coleman said. “That's one of the things we talked about during the week. Adding that feather in our hat feels good because we've been playing pretty good defense all year.”
The win moves the Golden Lions to 6-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play. With three games left in the regular season the Golden Lions aren't counting their chickens before they're hatched.
Having a positive attitude going into the remainder of the season, the Golden Lions remain optimistic about their chances in competing for the SWAC championship. Although Saturday's contest was low scoring, the victory brings Golden Lions one step closer to that December 8
th contest that everyone works so hard to get to.
Next up for the Golden Lions, is a SWAC Western Division showdown with Texas Southern in Houston. Kick-off for Saturday's contest is set for 2 PM.
