PINE BLUFF, Ark.-Alabama State spoiled Arkansas-Pine Bluff's homecoming game with a 28-12 win Saturday at Golden Lions Stadium.
ASU's Tim Clark opened the scoring with a 2-yard score on the game's first drive as the Hornets took a early 7-0 advantage. Clark later added scoring runs of 7 and 71 yards in the third quarter as Alabama State built a 28-3 lead.
UAPB's Justin Billings had a 40-yard touchdown run for the Golden Lions (4-5, 3-4 SWAC), and place kicker
Chris Ewald connected on two field goals. UAPB quarterback Ben Anderson was 31 for 48 for 274 yards while throwing two interceptions
“This was a tough loss for our team,” said UAPB head coach
Monte Coleman. “With that being said we are still in the championship race with two games remaining on our schedule.”
The Golden Lions return to the field on Saturday as they travel to Itta Bena, Miss. To face Mississippi Valley State at 1:00 p.m. at Rice-Totten Stadium.
