ITTA BENA, Miss.- The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff football team kept their SWAC Championship aspirations alive on Saturday as they grinded out a hard fought 15-3 victory over Mississippi Valley State.
 
“We knew going into the game that we would have to find a way to win on the road,” said UAPBN head coach Monte Coleman. “Mississippi Valley played hard the entire game and we feel fortunate to be able to leave with a much need win.”
 
Arkansas-Pine Bluff's defense forced to big turnovers in the first half leading to UAPB taking a 15-0 going into intermission. The Golden Lions got on the board at the 2:34 mark of the first half on a 1 yard Ben Anderson touchdown run. Stephen Jones punched in another score from ten yards out giving UAPB a 15 point advantage after a successful two point conversion.
 
The second half was all defenses as both teams struggled to move the ball. For the game UAPB amassed 174 yards while MVSU tallied 203 total offensive yards.
 
The Golden Lions now get set to return home on Saturday, November 19^th where they will face the Texas Southern Tigers in what will be UAPB's regular season finale. The game will mark Senior Day.
 
The contest has also been tagged as “Take a Kid to the Game Day.” All youth grade levels K-12 will be allowed free admission into the contest with a paying adult. Kickoff has been slated for 2:30 at Golden Lions Stadium located on the campus of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
