PINE BLUFF, AR- It was a senior day to remember for the Lady Lions as they rolled over the Jackson State University Tigers Sunday afternoon with a 4-0 win at the UAPB Soccer field.
The first goal came from two seniors fifteen minutes into the match.
Silvia Fuentes scored a shot in to the upper ninety that was assisted by
Jade West.
Jade West then added another assist when
Molly Stone scored in the 51
st minute. Six minutes later
Jade West scored on an assist from
Silvia Fuentes. The Lady Lions put the game out of reach when
Silvia Fuentes scored the final goal on an assists from
Nicole Parks-Powell and goalkeeper Meaghan Storie.
The game was all the Lady Lions as they outshot the Tigers 17 to 8 and 11 to 1 on corners. “We were ready to play today,” said Head Coach Roberto Mazza. “I am very happy for our seven seniors to go off on a good note.”
Meaghan Storie recorded her 7
th shutout of the season while making two saves during the match.
The Lady Lions will now pack up to travel to Alexandria, LA for the championship play. Their first round game in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship Soccer Tournament will be against Alabama State University. The game is scheduled for November 3
rd at 10:30am.
