UAPB Athletics Names Johnathan Jones Compliance / Eligibility Specialist

PINE BLUFF, AR. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Athletics Department has announced the hiring of Johnathan Jones as its Compliance / Eligibility Specialist, bringing a strong background in NCAA compliance, student-athlete eligibility, academic monitoring, and student development to the Golden Lions.

Jones joins UAPB after serving as an Athletic Compliance Associate at Little Rock Athletics, where he assisted with NCAA compliance operations, eligibility certification, transfer portal documentation, CARA logs, and academic monitoring. He also provided NCAA rules education for coaches and student-athletes while ensuring institutional compliance with conference and NCAA regulations.

Prior to his time at Little Rock, Jones worked in Student Development and Athletic Compliance at Mississippi State Athletics, where he coordinated student-athlete development initiatives, supported academic advising, and assisted with NCAA academic and eligibility compliance. His professional experience also includes operations management in the private sector, where he developed expertise in organizational leadership, customer service, and process management.

"We are excited to welcome Johnathan to the Golden Lion family," said Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Chris Robinson. "He brings valuable compliance experience, a passion for student-athlete success, and a strong understanding of NCAA rules and regulations. His knowledge and professionalism will strengthen our commitment to integrity, academic excellence, and compliance across our athletics program."

As Compliance / Eligibility Specialist, Jones will assist with the daily administration of UAPB's NCAA compliance program, including eligibility certification, transfer evaluations, academic monitoring, rules education, and maintaining compliance records. He will work closely with coaches, administrators, faculty, and student-athletes to ensure compliance with NCAA, Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), and institutional policies.

"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join the UAPB Athletics Department," Jones said. "I want to thank Vice Chancellor Chris Robinson and the athletics administration for believing in me and entrusting me with this role. I'm excited to work alongside an outstanding staff and help support our student-athletes as they pursue excellence both in competition and in the classroom."

A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Jones earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and Promotion from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock before completing a Master of Science in Workforce Education Leadership at Mississippi State University.

Jones was also an accomplished student-athlete, competing in NCAA Division I track and field at Little Rock from 2019-2025. During his collegiate career, he earned 2024 SEC All-Academic Team honors, was named to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Academic Team, received USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition, qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Preliminary Championships, and earned NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Second Team All-America honors.
