#UAPBWomensHoops: UAPB Women’s Basketball Set to Face Mississippi Valley State in SWAC Tournament Second Round

UAPB Women’s Basketball faces Mississippi Valley State in the SWAC Tournament Second Round Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. CT.
ATLANTA, GA. — The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women's basketball team will take on Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. CT in the second round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament at Gateway Center Arena. The game will be streamed live on the ESPN platform.

The Golden Lions, who finished tied for fifth place in the SWAC regular-season standings among the conference's 12 teams, will be making their first SWAC Tournament appearance under second-year head coach Erica Leak, who was recently inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame.

"Our team is excited for the opportunity to compete in the SWAC Tournament," said Leak. "We've worked hard all season to put ourselves in this position. Mississippi Valley State is a tough team, but our focus is on playing our brand of basketball, defending, rebounding, and competing for 40 minutes."

Mississippi Valley State enters the matchup after defeating Prairie View A&M 63–49 in the first round of the SWAC Tournament.

Earlier this season on Senior Day at H.O. Clemmons Arena, UAPB defeated the Devilettes 68–48.

In that contest, SWAC Newcomer of the Year and conference-leading scorer Indiya Bowen led the Golden Lions with 27 points, while Briontanay Marshall recorded a game-high 11 rebounds for UAPB.

The Golden Lions will look to advance in the SWAC Tournament as postseason play continues in Atlanta.
