PINE BLUFF, AR. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) has recognized Jailah Pelly and Khaniah Gardner of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women's basketball team for their outstanding performances over the weekend. Pelly was named SWAC Player of the Week, while Gardner earned SWAC Newcomer of the Week honors.

Pelly was a force in both games. In UAPB's 77–54 win over Bethune-Cookman, she scored 12 points on efficient shooting (5-of-7 FG, 1-of-2 3PT, 1-of-2 FT) and contributed defensively with 3 steals. In the 63–53 victory against Florida A&M, Pelly led the Golden Lions with 23 points while knocking down shots from all levels and pacing the offense throughout the contest.

Gardner also made her presence felt. Against Bethune-Cookman she finished with 15 points on 3-of-4 shooting from the field and added 7 rebounds, anchoring the interior on both ends. In the Florida A&M game, Gardner finished with a double-double contributed 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists, showing her all-around versatility and impact as one of UAPB's emerging playmakers.

The Golden Lions are gaining momentum in SWAC play with a two-game winning streak, as both Pelly and Gardner continue to elevate their level of play and lead Arkansas-Pine Bluff with consistent, high-energy performances.

UAPB will be back in action on Thursday, January 22, 2026, as the Golden Lions travel to Grambling, Louisiana, to take on Grambling State. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
