PINE BLUFF, AR --Quion Williams collected a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, but the UAPB men's basketball team fell to the Florida A&M Rattlers 71-67 at home Saturday.
The Golden Lions had four players score in double figures, led by Alex Mirhosseini, who had 16 points and three steals. Trevon Payton added 13 points and Williams chipped in as well with a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
UAPB forced 16 Florida A&M turnovers while committing 13 themselves in Saturday's game. The Golden Lions turned those takeaways into 15 points on the offensive end of the floor. Jaquan Scott led the way individually with three steals.
How It Happened
After falling behind 30-24, UAPB went on a 7-0 run with 1:43 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Mirhosseini, to take a 31-30 lead, a score that would hold until halftime. UAPB capitalized on nine Florida A&M turnovers in the period, turning them into eight points on the other end of the floor.
Florida A&M then erased the UAPB lead in the game's final quarter for a 71-67 comeback victory. UAPB got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for nine of its 36 total points.
